Manuscript Evaluation

How might your novel be experienced? As a whole is everything coming together as it should? Is there a small plot hole that's been overlooked? An inconsistency with setting? Perhaps something doesn't feel quite right and you need a second pair of eyes to look over it.

​This is a cost-effective option where you receive unbiased and constructive feedback on the big picture elements of your writing. We'll look at what's working well and ways to sharpen areas that may need a little more attention.

What's Included

An assessment of your story that involves reading your manuscript with care to determine if all the necessary elements have been woven together effectively. During, I’ll be paying close attention to the following:

 

  • Narrative structure

  • Themes

  • Story premise

  • Subplots

  • Characters and character arcs

  • Point of view

  • Dialogue and inner monologue

  • Pacing

  • The tension and conflicts

  • Worldbuilding

  • Genre and reader expectations

  • Timelines and possible inconsistencies

  • Scene and summary / showing and telling

An editorial report that’s usually between 5-20 pages of professional feedback. I’ll highlight areas for improvement and suggestions while acknowledging your strengths and the aspects that are working well.

​Feedback that's honest but never harsh. The goal is to make your story the best it can be without diminishing your confidence as a writer.

An email consultation to discuss anything related to your feedback.
